CASTELMASSA (Rovigo) – Friday 19 April at 9.00 pm in the council room of the municipality of Castelmassa, in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, 1 will be presented Dictionary of Polesine Artists, born or active in Polesine in the 19th and 20th centuries. The mayor will intervene for institutional greetings Luigi Petrella and the culture councilor Roberta Azzolini. The authors of the research P will be presentaola Pizzamano, Alfredo Sigolo and Mihran Tchaprassian.
In the volume “Dictionary of artists born or active in Polesine in the 19th and 20th centuries”, a project by Banca del Monte di Rovigo Foundationpublished by Apogeo Publisherwhich comes out in the “I Tigli” series of the Accademia dei Concordifind space, in addition to the main local artists, minor, forgotten figures, talented artisans, artists of local origin who have made their fortune abroad and emerging young people.
Let’s not forget that the presence of the Liceo d’Arte, formerly the School of Arts and Crafts, formerly the Institute of Art, has existed in Castelmassa since 1889 and has produced a notable number of artists in the area, also involving the people of Mantua and Verona. This is a search made up of almost 1000 biographical cards which represent a research and documentation tool for finding essential information for the study and in-depth analysis of the personalities who, in the aforementioned period, worked in the field of the arts.
The result highlights not only the unprecedented richness of figures and personalities expressed by the territory of the province of Rovigo in the field of visual arts, but also tells of a peculiar attitude towards the applied arts. For each artist, the disciplinary fields in which he expressed himself are indicated, the personal data traced, the essential biographical information, the main exhibitions or activities carried out, and the critical-stylistic notes are also reported.
Following different lines of presentation, in other words the structure of the Dictionary, the research, the method, the results, the great commitment and meticulousness of the investigation are aimed at demonstrating the creativity of Polesine. It is, therefore, a point of departure to continue investigating the heritage of this land which gave birth to so much art or created fertile ground for art to be produced or spread to other territories.
