The week begins with some disturbances and temperatures drop slightly but nothing substantial. The weather warning issued by the civil protection (and which also applies to Como and its province) is for the arrival of very strong winds with gusts of up to 70-80 km/h in the city and plains and up to 90-100 km/h in altitudes above 1000 metres.

“For the second part of today, April 15th, a strengthening wind from the south is expected in the southern areas of the Region, with more sustained gusts on the Apennines and low plains and speeds of up to 70-80 km/h above 500 meters above sea level; Alpine sectors winds mainly from the western quadrants, more sustained at altitudes above 1000 metres.
Furthermore, short showers or isolated thunderstorms are expected in the next few hours which may affect the Rhaetian Alps and will subsequently tend to extend towards the South, with possible, albeit marginal, involvement of the Pre-Alpine belt as well. Temperatures decreasing slightly especially in the mountains, freezing temperatures dropping to around 2600-2800 m in the Alps.
Gusts of up to 100 km/h tomorrow
From the morning of tomorrow 16 April, general ventilation from the North is expected, initially strengthening in the Alps and Pre-Alps, rapidly extending to the lower altitudes and the plains (in particular in the central western sectors) between late morning and central hours, with gusty entry and general characteristics of foehn. The maximum burst speeds are expected in the central hours of the day, when locally 70-80 km/h can be reached (at altitudes above 1000 metres, local peaks reach up to 90-100 km/h). Between the afternoon and evening, a temporary strengthening of the east wind is expected on the eastern plain. General attenuation of the phenomena in the evening.
There is also expected instability between the Brescia Prealps and the eastern plain, where isolated rain showers or weak thunderstorms will be expected entering from the East during the afternoon of tomorrow 16/04. Temperatures significantly decreasing, zero temperatures dropping below 2000 meters in the evening”.
