The game that is worth a season is finally upon us. On Sunday afternoon, for the 5th and final return round of the Salvation Pool of the A2 Women’s Volleyball Series, Hermaea Olbia welcomes Vtb Fcredil Bologna to the Geopalace for a direct clash that could be worth staying in the category.

The last 3 successes against Soverato, Pescara and Padova have allowed the Tavolarine Eagles to climb into fourth position with 33 points. The same as Melendugno and two more than Bologna, who at the moment would be the fifth team to leave the cadet series after Pescara, Padova, Costa Volpino and Soverato.

With their backs against the wall, Bologna will land in Sardinia with a knife between their teeth to overtake at the last minute, while Hermaea absolutely wants to win to close the issue of survival and celebrate in front of their supporters.

Setter Dana Schmit will also be part of the match: the ankle sprain suffered in Padua turned out to be minor, and the Austrian player will be available regularly.

Coach Dino Guadalupi: “We worked during the week focusing solely and exclusively on the match and our performance. In competitions like this, motivation comes naturally and represents a further incentive to do well. A hint of tension is normal, but focusing on the concrete helps keep it at bay. The last 3 victories have confirmed the team’s better continuity in the block defense phase and in the break phase in general: this makes us more balanced and allows us to manage situations in attack with greater clarity. The result? It would be a big mistake to go out on the field to do just the bare minimum. We will have to try to obtain the best possible result regardless of everything, playing with the pleasure of facing such a challenge. Ultimately it’s what we work for every day. Bologna is an expert team and rather regular in the fundamentals of the second line, while in attack they have been able to find different solutions depending on the match, and this has allowed them to remain in the running for the goal of salvation. We will have to be good at reading their intentions and finding the right countermeasures. We hope to see a lot of people in the stands: the pitch factor has always been important for us. In front of our fans we have always found the best performances and results. A nice support could certainly represent an added value”.

Kick-off on Sunday 7 April at 5pm at the Geopalace in Olbia. Grossi and Pescatore will referee. The match will be visible in live streaming (subject to free registration) on the volleyballworld.tv website.
