TRIESTE. Over a hundred demonstrators – staff from public and private schools – protested on Monday afternoon in front of the Municipality, where a session of the Municipal Council was underway, against the public-private management model that the municipal administration intends to adopt for the Roiano nursery school. This will open in the former Polstrada barracks and there are also strong doubts from the trade union.
In Piazza Unità there were also numerous flags of the CGIL Funzione Pubblico and the CISL; there were also numerous signs «against outsourcing» and in favor of «more hiring». A delegation of the unions was received in the Municipality and the meeting continued until late in the evening. The model that the council intends to adopt involves the banning of the concession, with 50% of the 66 places assigned in addition to the current positions municipal nurseries, and the other half managed by a private entity. The unions, accepting the requests of many workers, underline the salary and perhaps even contractual differences that would be created in the same workplace and express opposition to the privatization of a public service such as nursery school. Protesters also expressed fear for their future.
