An extraordinary joint police operation was arranged, by order of the Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori, which affected the territory of the Municipalities of Brunico and Bressanone, which affected, in particular, some urban areas that the local authorities and the citizens themselves have reported that they have been the scene of specific predatory criminal episodes and phenomena of urban decay.
The police operation carried out is part of the project to maintain the constant presence of the le Police throughout the provincial territory, through the implementation of systematic and targeted general prevention and control activities of public establishments in those municipal contexts where the Mayors, in their function of Local Public Safety Authoritieshave reported to the Provincial Authorities – Police Commissioner and Government Commissioner – the presence of particular problems relating to urban safety.
These police activities have the aim of systematically monitoring the entire provincial territory, ensuring high visibility of the presence of the police forces, those phenomena of illegality that cause a widespread perception of insecurity in citizens, as well as preventing situations of disturbance of order. and public safety due to episodes of petty crime, drug dealing as well as the commission of crimes against property, as well as the presence of individuals not regularly present on our national territory;
they, in the operational phase, were also integrated with the preparation of 4 checkpoints along the main road arteries entering and exiting the municipal area. The police unit also carried out checks, extended to customers, at 6 Public businesses.
Around 20 women and men from the Bolzano Police Headquarters, the Bressanone PS Commissariat and the Brunico Local Police took part in the joint effort, with the support of the Crime Prevention Department of the State Police.
The irregularities found were various and of different nature and severity in 2 Bars / Trattorias in Brunico, in addition to 1 other already closed in recent days following previous checks carried out last week, again at the disposal of the Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano: violations of the regulations on safety in the workplace and fire prevention regulations, violations of the regulations on gambling gambling, unlabeled and already expired foods, violation of basic hygiene rules. For all these reasons, the competent authorities were involved and the consequent serious sanctions provided for by law were requested.
Overall, during the police operation they were 108 people identified, of which 22 foreigners and 15 with criminal and/or police records, 5 public businesses and 22 vehicles.
At the end of the operational activities, the Police Commissioner therefore adopted the following measures:
• 2 Mandatory Street Sheets – Personal Prevention Measure provided for by the Code of Anti-Mafia Laws – for the same number of subjects burdened by criminal and police records, resident in municipalities of another province and without any right to remain in the territory of the municipality of Bressanone;
• 2 DACUR – Bans on access to public establishments against as many individuals burdened by criminal and/or police records, who have created disturbances to public order and safety.
“Some predatory delinquent episodes that occurred in the areas subject to today’s inspection have led operational activities to be focused on specific areas of the municipal territories of Brunico and Bressanone – highlighted Commissioner Sartori at the end of the operation – A constant and widespread intervention activity in the preventive phase, in close synergy with the Mayors and municipal administrations of the entire Province, in addition to making the citizens’ perception of safety concrete, allows us, in fact, to cope with and keep under control the various expressions of illegality that are reported to us”.
