In Marsala “unsafe streets”, firecrackers among people in the center and no controls
Descriptive text here

For a few weeks, basically everything has been happening in the historic center of Marsala. Pedestrians have been at risk of seriously hurting themselves for years due to the constant bicycles and the high number of scooters circulating in the Limited Traffic Zone also for two wheels and electric vehicles, in contravention of the provisions of the access bans located in the city gates (Porta Garibaldi, Porta Mazara, Porta Nuova). Everyone does not respect the prohibitions, without exception. Children, young people, the elderly, foreigners, workers, professionals. All without any distinction.

For days another ugly “phenomenon” has been taking place in Piazza Loggia. Palazzo VII Aprile has been a meeting place for groups of young Maghrebians in the evenings for some time now who listen to music and often get into fights. Like last night, Holy Thursday, a day traditionally full of people in Marsala but after 9.30pm it slowly became depopulated like never before (except obviously during the Covid period). Since the afternoon, a small group of North African kids started throwing firecrackers among people on Via Garibaldi and in the square, scaring passers-by. Not even the shadow of ‘known’ An army that should also have served in Marsala (as well as Petrosino, Trapani and Erice), as foreseen by the Prefecture with “Safe Roads”. No armed forces or law enforcement patrols. Perhaps all intent on carrying out their work for the Sacred Representation of the Passion of Christ. But it is precisely in these days that we need greater control of our roads. Otherwise, the ordinances prohibiting the consumption of alcohol on public streets were of no avail.

Even days ago, in the very early afternoon, again in front of the institutional headquarters of the Lilybetan municipal council, some of these boys, probably always the same ones, threw firecrackers right there in front. So much so that after the explosion a scream was heard, “Ouch“, probably due to some passerby who was shocked by the loud noise, without considering the fact that these devices are dangerous and can cause damage to things and people.
