PALERMO – The official confesses. Aldo Raimondiresponsible for the social and cultural policy sector of the municipality of San Cataldo, in the province of Caltanissetta, admits to having pocketed bribes to promote the “Nido d’argento” cooperative of Partinico.

A full confession was made to the deputy prosecutor of Palermo Paolo Guido and to the deputies Giacomo Brandini, Giulia Falchi and Chiara Capoluongo. The person who contacted him was the Partinico entrepreneur Giuseppe Gagliocreator of the tourist phenomenon “Borgo Parrini”, and his trusted collaborator Massimiliano Terzo. Raimondi did his utmost to speed up payments to the “Nido d’Argento” which managed some social assistance services.

Raimondi, who ended up under house arrest, spoke of cash bribes received in a restaurant bathroom or in the parking lot of a well-known sportswear chain. The money was hidden inside an envelope or among scratch & win tickets. All true, confirmed Raimondi, who spoke of around 15 thousand euros. Once he even got a job for a woman in exchange.

The police interceptions were eloquent. “Should we give money to Aldo?, Gaglio asked Terzo as they were reaching San Cataldo by car. And then he felt that they were counting the money “100, 200, 300…” until they reached “1,900 (that’s how much one of the agreed payments amounted to)”.

Raimondi added useful elements to the investigations given that it expands the period of corruption. Gagliosi has been awarded contracts in various Sicilian municipalities.
