In view of the Easter holidays, the Bergamo farmhouses are preparing to welcome guests and, for the occasion, Terranostra Bergamo, the farmhouse association promoted by Coldiretti, has announced the federation’s forecasts for these days.

At a national level, there will be a total of one and a half million visitors (65 percent Italian), including overnight stays, lunches and visits. Currently, there are 171 active structures in the province of Bergamo (out of a regional total of approximately 1,700), of which 65 offer accommodation services and more than 150 offer catering services.

Many facilities already full

«Despite the uncertainty of the time – he explained Eleonora Massetti, president of Terranostra Bergamo and Lombardia – the prospects are also good for Bergamo agritourisms. There were many reservations for both Easter and Easter Monday lunches and for accommodation in the countryside, with the facilities often full for some time. Companies that offer experiences linked to the agricultural world and educational activities are also highly sought after.”

Food is certainly the true added value of a farm holiday, where you can taste the excellence of the area but also peasant recipes, perhaps revisited in an innovative way. However, what made people choose the farmhouse was also the push towards more sustainable tourism, which led the structures to increase the range of activities with services for sportsmen and nature lovers, as well as recreational activities such as visiting historical, naturalistic or wellness, horseback riding, trekking, but also courses.

An attractive offer

The beginning of spring, as specified by Coldiretti Bergamo, is also the best time to witness the awakening of nature but also agricultural activities, with land preparation work, sowing and harvesting of the first fruits.

«Agritourism – concluded Masseretti – is not only an extraordinary economic driving force for our territories, but also represents a powerful means for spreading the culture of good food and for promoting awareness of our food and wine excellences, as well as a opportunity to discover our natural and cultural beauties and small villages”.
