Fifteen years after the tragedy, L’Aquila is preparing to commemorate and honor the 309 victims who lost their lives during the night between 5 and 6 April 2009 due to the earthquake that hit the capital of Abruzzo and 56 other municipalities

In addition to the torchlight procession, scheduled for the evening of Friday 5 April, and the religious celebrations organized by the Archdiocese, a series of events are scheduled, many of which promoted following the public notice from the Municipality of L’Aquila, aimed at cultural institutions, bodies, associations and committees, aimed at promoting initiatives to continue to cultivate the memory of those who have left us and keep their memory alive. The route of the procession will wind along Via XX Settembre starting from 9.30pm, with a short stop in front of the Student House and will end at the Parco della Memoria, where following the lighting of the brazier the names of the victims of the earthquake. This year, due to the work underway on Piazza Duomo, the beam of light in memory of the victims will be lit from Palazzo Margherita.
