Tomorrow Ikea workers will be present in Afragola
The employees of the companies that apply the national collective labor agreement for Organized Modern Distribution, members of Federdistribuzione, will stop tomorrow for the entire work shift. A demonstration is planned, from 9 am to 12 pm, at the Ikea store in Afragola. The strike, according to a note from the trade union organisations, was proclaimed by the national secretariats of Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs Uil “against the breakdown of the negotiating table for the renewal of the national collective agreement, which expired way back in 2019 and awaited by over 240 thousand workers, after a long and exhausting non-stop negotiation”. The basis of the mobilization is “the irresponsibility of Federdistribuzione” in presenting “various requests aimed at sabotaging rights and guarantees currently contained in the National Collective Labor Agreement and which the workers of commercial distribution have achieved at the cost of sacrifices and struggles in the over the last few decades.” In detail, Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs in a joint note point the finger against “the introduction of uncontrolled and generalized flexibility with fixed-term contracts of indefinite duration (over 24 months!); the dismemberment of the personnel classification system with the assignment of the sales auxiliary operations employee to lower tasks such as cleaning sales and service areas (as some companies associated with Federdistribuzione illegitimately do); the elimination of all professional dignity with the sub-classification of those responsible for entire complex commercial formats; the creation of a new job for the movement of goods, dragging it towards the fifth level and emptying the current forecast at the fourth level, for the sole purpose of saving companies money on workers”. Furthermore, no availability was given to the unions’ requests to deal with the topic of ‘Procurement and outsourcing’ and ‘franchising’. “Unrealistic demands – for the unions – aimed solely at ruining an already complex negotiation”, demonstrating Federdistribuzione’s “pathological reluctance” to “give the right recognition in economic terms to the employees of its associated companies”. “The negotiation scheme that Federdistribuzione proposes – continues the note signed by the territorial general secretaries of the three categories, Luana Di Tuoro, Stefania Chirico and Giuseppe Silvestro – is once again to mortify the renewal of the national collective labor agreement in a logic of exchange between an alleged willingness to provide the due salary increase (never explained in detail in the 17 hours of negotiation) in exchange for a worsening of the regulatory part which provided for the precarization of workers through a system derogating from the law and proposing the humiliation of professionalism through a lowering of the levels of classification”.
