The Municipality of Rimini has already exceeded the 33% threshold of nursery place coverage set by the European objectives of the Lisbon strategy. In fact, to date there are over a thousand places available to the population for 3-36 monthsand coverage will increase further with the completion of the three kindergartens financed by the PNRR.

Ahead of the expected timescales – with a target set for 2027 – Rimini’s educational services dedicated to nurseries are already above the expected European threshold of 33%; only in the year 2002, the same type of coverage stood at 11.9%.

The result, explains deputy mayor Chiara Bellini, is the result of an administrative policy that has placed educational services at the center of its budget and, at the same time, of the search for the largest and most varied public funds – regional, national, European – which has allowed anticipate the declared objective, which was to achieve this result by 2027, once the three new nurseries currently under construction have been delivered thanks to PNRR funds.

Since 2022, by exploiting various financing channels (municipal budget, regional funds, INPS resources, European funds), school policies have made it possible, on the one hand, to stimulate demand thanks to measures such as free nursery school, and on the other to encourage the supply of places through investments which have made important incentives for the public/private system possible. The result was the increase in both public and private positions, united by public/private coordination capable of optimizing economic resources, management (for example with a single registration platform) and communication.

Thanks to these policies, Rimini has managed to obtain additional resources for the strengthening of nursery schools, which will progressively make the investments made sustainable and covered. From 84 thousand euros in 2023 we will reach one million and 265 thousand euros in 2027, passing through 123 thousand arriving in 2024. Overall, the overall investment of the municipal administration of Rimini to provide nursery services (including vouchers and contributions) was for the 2023 Of 6 million and 230 thousand euros.
