Too often, in fact, at the table people are only focused on their smartphones and no longer interact with each other.

Free wine for those who give up their smartphone at the table

A restaurant has opened in Veneto new restaurant which has chosen to give its guests a gastronomic experience centered on human relationships. The restaurant that you opened on March 21st in Verona is called “Al Condominio” and it is a truly innovative place because it has decided to be “tech-free”. The owners, in fact, have decided to give diners a particular experience, that of eating, putting the pleasure of being together, chatting and sharing at the center of attention. conviviality. To achieve this, the managers have decided to give a bottle of wine to customers who decide not to use their smartphone during the meal. Those who join the initiative can put their device in special boxes that are closed and then sit at the table without worries.

In this way, according to the creators, people can talk again instead of remaining attached to their smartphone. The place has been renamed Human Centric Restaurant and the idea behind this initiative was explained by Angelo Lella, one of the co-founders. His words were reported by the ‘Corriere del Veneto’: “We wanted to create a human centric restaurant, to rediscover the beauty of a dinner in company, looking into each other’s eyes and chatting. Sometimes you see couples at the table busy photographing and posting the dishes or responding to messages and voicemails, but they no longer speak to each other”.

Anyone who decides to join the initiative comes honored from a bottle of wine. Furthermore, at the “Al Condominio” restaurant in Verona, for reasons of consistency, there are only paper menus and no QR menus to scan. After the first days of opening it emerged that many young people they wanted to try the experience while for now the over 45s seemed more resistant to the challenge.

Other examples of “smartphone free” activities and initiatives

The “Al Condominio” restaurant in Verona is not the only example of a business that has chosen to limit the use of cell phones. Still in Veneto but in the Treviso area, in fact, there is a shoemaker which has decided not to serve customers who use smartphones. A decision justified by the fact that the manager said he was tired of suffering on a daily basis rude attitudes by some customers.

Unfortunately, attitudes or gestures that the shoemaker no longer wants to tolerate are now considered almost normal. So the man who runs a business in the center of Treviso displayed a sign on the counter that read in clear letters: “I don’t serve people on cell phones”. The owner said that there were many customers who came in talking (perhaps even loudly on the phone about nonsense) and only addressed him with gestures and so he decided to make this choice.

Veneto is not the only region where these “smartphone free” initiatives have been taken. In Sicily, in particular in Balestrate, a children’s playground has been opened where the use of cell phones and other electronic devices is prohibited. Before entering the play area, in fact, there is a sign that says: “Put your smartphone here and dedicate time to your children!”. So in this park of almost a thousand square metres, slides, swings, benches and other games have been set up where adults and children can have fun in complete carelessness
