The 33rd edition of Paganello was announced as “the biggest of all”. And also the most supportive. Two thousand athletes ready to land on the seafront from all over the world. Playing arenas that extend from beach 16 to beach 42, for over a kilometer of beach, with the central court, the Eurodisc, positioned in front of the Nettuno restaurant (bath 28/a).

The three days dedicated to Frisbee enthusiasts will be inaugurated this evening with a “welcome party” on the beach. From tomorrow until Easter Monday, however, the challenges are expected which will pit the 142 teams participating in the tournament, the forerunner of the season on the Riviera. An initiative which, as the organizer of the Paganello, Beppe Carpi, points out, would not be possible without the contribution of many volunteers: «The Paganello is a miracle resulting from “riminisitudine”. We are healthy bearers of the desire to do. And the volunteers at work these days prove it.”

“Unity is strength”

We now come to the issue of solidarity, this year more than ever the jewel in the crown of Paganello. The solidarity apina was born from the collaboration with Romagna Acque and the San Giuseppe foundation. Which, among other things, has already “warmed up” the engine during Sigep 2024. “This initiative – explains Marina Fabbri, director of the foundation – aims to allow young people who, compared to their peers, start with a march” inferior”, to gain experience and approach an activity which, in many respects, is similar to a job».

There will be around thirty of them – all supported by the foundation, and all between the ages of 15 and 30 – and they will be responsible for distributing free water not only to athletes, but to all those who attend Paganello. Strictly on board the solidarity bee. «A project that promotes the autonomy of children and which benefits sustainability – echoes Tonino Bernabè, president of Romagna Acque -. As a company we are proud to have joined and supported Paganello. Water is always the protagonist of the city’s initiatives. It is a pleasure to be able to quench the thirst of athletes and spectators for free.”

“All hands on deck”

For mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad, what will be staged during the 33rd edition of Paganello will be “only beautiful things”. And with the administration leading the way in identifying development trajectories that can keep everyone together.

«Inclusivity is the guiding light of this year – underlines the mayor -, as is sustainability and the valorisation of water. And I promise one thing: the bee will be present in all the other events that await us.”

An inclusiveness which, as insiders point out, also translates into the involvement of Paralympic athletes from the Italian national team who, on the basketball court in front of Nettuno, will support anyone who wishes to approach wheelchair sport. And with the possibility of testing both the “flying disc” and basketball, thanks to the contribution of the Riviera basketball Rimini athletes.

The summer technical trials, starting this evening at Paganello, will be enriched by gadgets and objects that are symbols of the 2024 edition. Starting from the thermal water bottle that Romagna Acque will donate to all the competing athletes. And then there limited edition of Rossopomodoro, also this year partner of Paganello.

As a tribute to the event, the brothers Luca and Gioia Romano – managers of the two clubs in Rimini – have created a one-of-a-kind Frisbee.

What makes it so special? None other than the image of Neapolitan pizza printed on it. On how to get it, the owners have a word: «All you need to do is taste one of our specialties while you applaud your champions in action on the beach».
