Molisana Magnolia Campobasso scores the 62-65 basket at the siren and beats Allianz Geas Sesto San Giovanni in Game 2 of the play-offs.
THE MATCH
After an initial back and forth, the home team went up to 14-4 by imposing their own pace of play, however the Molise team were not intimidated by Lombardy’s impetus and scored a 3-12 lead which closed the first quarter at 17- 16.
Campobasso’s fury continued in the following quarter when another terrifying partial arrived (2-17) which helped them record the maximum advantage at 19-33; Geas tries to get back into the game, but the offensive flow of the guests is unstoppable and with a new break we go to halftime at 23-39.
Magnolia gets to +18 as soon as hostilities start again and then lower the intensity to be able to better manage the large advantage; in the second half of the third quarter however, Sesto San Giovanni inflicts a 10-1 partial which closes the gap to just three possessions, Campobasso tries to shake things up with a triple but it’s not enough because the hosts have the last word and they write 41-51 after 30′ of play.
A new back and forth seems to be able to help the Molise team keep the Lombard team at bay, who however see their opponents in difficulty and sink the blow with a partial of 12-3 which brings them to -1 with 120″ to go. A three-point play and a shot with the clock stopped put Magnolia on +5, however Geas equalized the score at 62-62, bringing to mind the double overtime of Game 1.
On the last available possession, Campobasso shoots a three-pointer and scores the 62-65 basket which is worth the victory, taking the series to Game 3 at home.
