Senigallia Basketball, the victory against Supernova Fiumicino qualifies for the playoffs

A fundamental victory to say the least. A victory that allows our red and whites to cross this first finish line, that qualification for the playoffs which, also given the formula, was not at all a given despite a good starting base. The 79-62 final against Supernova Fiumicino is the fourth victory in this Play-In Gold, the second against the red and white, and it is worth the two points for Senigallia which takes it to 14th in the standings; and given the concomitant defeat of Pallacanestro Palestrina on the Bramante Pesaro pitch it means guaranteeing qualification for the post-season that counts three days before the end, the first important goal of a season in which Goldengas has shown, once again, its better than himself.

In fact, it is Giacomini and his teammates who approach better: after the initial head-to-head and Fiumicino finding the only advantages of the match at 3-1 first and then at 13-12, the 8-1 of the hosts begins to bring inertia on one’s side, and then, in fact, never looking back. In the second half, therefore, comes the first significant advantage when, from 25-22, with its main weapons, defense and pace, Senigallia flies to 41-26, constantly maintaining the double-digit advantage.

Only in the third quarter did Fiumicino manage to put Goldengas in a little difficulty, with a 9-2 which initially brought them to -5, only to then remain without baskets for over 4 minutes and allowing Senigallia to control; at the end of the third half, however, the gap narrowed even more and the guests got to -2 before Goldengas put the lead back at least two possessions between the two teams at the end of the third half.

In the last quarter, however, the monologue is only red and white and is truly the result of the collective performance: Fiumicino returns to even the slightest disadvantage, -1, at 54-53, but when everything seemed ready to prepare for a long sprint here is the decisive extension, a 14-3 which brings Goldengas to +12, back on the ball and ready to control the final too. And keep that 54-53 in mind, because from there to the final siren the partial reads 25-9, thus sending the Senigallian public into raptures.

In short, as mentioned, a team victory more than ever, with only 6 lead changes and Senigallia always ahead from the first quarter. A success legitimized by the rebound victory, 36-26, by the 11 recovered balls (compared to 15 turnovers, 7-17 for the guests) and by the percentages, with the red and whites finishing with 61% from 2 and 33% by 3. Without forgetting the 5 men in double figures, an even more tangible sign of the contribution of the entire team.

In short, an Easter with a nice gift for the entire Senigallia Basketball family, waiting to return to the gym in view of the next match. A direct clash, the one on Sunday 7 April at the home of Virtus Roma which will probably give away a good share of the standings so as not to stop here and continue to dream. Happy Easter everyone!
