A 19-year-old Spanish tourist who got stuck on the Verdeazzurro path, in the stretch that connects Corniglia and Manarola, which is closed and will reopen in the next few days, escaped with a few small bruises and a helicopter flight. The young man would have entered from the Corniglia side and then passed through the Europa Village, also climbing over the barriers, and then continued his journey and lost his way several times until coming across a landslide, where he slipped, suffering minor bruises. The tourist managed to raise the alarm shortly after 3pm and men and vehicles were mobilized to rescue him: Alpine Rescue, already active with the garrison following the stipulation of an agreement with the Cinque Terre National Park, the Fire Brigade fire and the Drago helicopter. The 19-year-old was transported to San Martino in Genoa.
For the entire duration of the yellow weather alert, the park has activated the suspension of the sale of the “Trekking” type Cinque Terre Card service card at all sales points and online. Furthermore, the SVA Verde Azzurro, Corniglia – Vernazza – Monterosso path remained closed to pedestrian transit until further notice for interventions to restore travel and mitigate risk. In case of violations of the ordinances, the administrations can intervene with sanctions against those who do not comply with them.
