Two weeks have already passed since the urgent question to Mayor Quinci with a written response on the drinkability of the water in distribution presented by the city councilors Girolamo Billardello (5 Star Movement) and Giorgio Randazzo (Brothers of Italy). However, no response came from the administration, as Randazzo himself explains: “We have also sent everything to the Prefecture and the ASP to ask for information, but to date nothing has changed on the advertising or even on the obligation to make an ordinance for the eastern area of the city”.

The same councilor also explains what the next moves could be: “I think the next step will be to notify the Prosecutor’s Office. If the mayor fails to fulfill his role as guarantor of public health, he doesn’t even care about the transmission to the Prefecture. We expect the ASP to intervene, as it already did in 2021 by asking the mayor for the non-drinking ordinance of water resources in the Trasmazzaro area. A dutiful act on the part of the mayor, who allowed people to use non-drinking water as if it were drinkable.” In support of Cristaldi with the Pride and Future list, Randazzo explains the modus operandi of the coalition:From April 15th we will start massively, neighborhood by neighborhood. The method of the electoral campaign will be that of direct contact with the people. Small rallies, with Cristaldi at the forefront. It will be a contact campaign.”

Among the hottest points of the program, that of the cycle path: “We will immediately begin to remodel the most critical sections. During the summer season we will witness actions of real havoc on the issue of traffic and road safety. I believe that the technical approach will allow us to remodulate it. We will continue the work on other existing construction sites, we will not do like the current administration which dismantled those of its predecessor”. The councilor also expressed his opinion on the issue relating to the Eni Gas Pipeline:The luck of the previous administration is that in the act of renewing the concession it was stipulated that the parties involved, TransMed and the Municipality of Mazara del Vallo, had to evaluate the impact that the gas pipeline had on the territory, specifically on the coast. The front is still open. In the immediate future, especially if I have the delegation, we will implement a dialogue aimed at refocusing this biological damage to the territory. Naturally, with the right levers, it is also possible to reach a pact for the territory. I believe that the judicial route should always be avoided in every context.”

Randazzo also enters with a straight leg on what concerns the dredging of the port-canal: In the meantime, the first dredging project for the canal port must be presented in agreement with the Sicilian Region. This is not the dredging of the canal port, but the mitigation of hydrogeological instability on the funds allocated to Mazara del Vallo through the intercession of parliamentarian Cristaldi. Today the peanuts are left and it does not appear that a dredging project for the port-canal has ever been presented. The Municipality of Mazara del Vallo has no direct competence in the matter, but the PNRR allowed the interested territories to take over, in agreement with the competent authority, the presentation of the projects. We could have had a serious dredging project, but it was never presented.”
