A conference with a double meaning. It was the one that was held in the Giusy Gurrado room of the Cariciv Foundation and which saw first of all the presentation of the 34th Bulletin of the Civitavecchiese Historical Society entitled “Civitavecchia, a beautiful city of enterprise” which, through the documentary material coming from Pietro’s collection Mancini traces the catalog of Civitavecchia companies active between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
Civitavecchiese Historical Society which also, with this publication, inaugurates its twentieth year of activity.
“The book tells of Civitavecchia in a time span that goes from 1815 to 1915 – explains Pietro Mancini – and was mainly represented with images, documents, postcards, invoices, in which all the businesses of Civitavecchia are reported, also created with the contribution of Ciancarini and the Historical Society”.
“The importance of the Civitavecchiese historical society – states the president of the Cariciv Foundation Gabriella Sarracco – is evident. It has been present in the area for 20 years, always working in a serious and constructive way thanks to the contribution of its members, thus giving fellow citizens the opportunity to come to know many aspects of the life of our city in the past. In the latest bulletin, a new theme is addressed, that of Civitavecchia entrepreneurship, from the 19th to the 20th century, a period in which Civitavecchia was full of businesses, shops and supported by the Savings Bank. Cariciv and the Civitavecchiese Historical Society have been collaborating for many years and it is a pleasure to do so.”
