With resolution no. 547 of 24-3-2024 the asp of Cosenza, as delegate of Azienda Zero, has undertaken the reorganization process of the territorial emergency-urgency system (118) dictated by DCA n. 198 of 12-7-2023 for the strengthening of the aforementioned system. For the Catanzaro ASP, 14 advanced medical stations, 11 basic stations and 6 emergency ambulances are planned.

“Very good – comments Saverio Ferrari, SMI Asp delegate of Catanzaro – on paper a huge expansion project which we can only applaud as it would guarantee immediate relief throughout the vast territory of the province of Catanzaro. Having said this, however, a question arises spontaneously given the current comatose state of the service and that is, considering that the current staff of doctors on the 11 medicalized ambulances in service (Maida, Tiriolo and Sersale have been demedicalized for 4 years!!) consists of 40/ 45 units with dozens of turns discovered, where would the additional 40/42 doctors be found to medicalize the 14 advanced emergency vehicles planned? The 2 competitions carried out in Cosenza and Catanzaro have allowed the important transition of around 35 doctors from the agreement regime to medical management in the Catanzaro ASP, preventing a further impoverishment of the staff but will certainly not enrich the staff of the additional 40/42 doctors necessary. Will the Cuban colleagues also arrive in the ambulances? We will see and wait confidently that the excellent project will translate into an efficient and effective emergency service also because summer is coming and the population that may need to be helped will increase dramatically”.
