Today for Catholics is Maundy Thursday, the day of Holy Week before Easter in which the institution of the Eucharist, the blessing of the holy oils and the reconciliation of penitents are commemorated. Holy Thursday is also celebrated as the day of the institution of the priesthood by Jesus. This is why, in the various dioceses, mass is celebrated with all the priests. The bishop of Ragusa, Msgr. Giuseppe La Placa at the end of the Chrism Mass, celebrated in the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, issued the third pastoral letter entitled Eucharistómen, addressed to the presbyters: “You and I say Eucharistómen together, we give God our everlasting thanks, our joy – said the bishop during the homily of the Chrism Mass – let it be the continuous thanksgiving that we raise with our own lives and it is this joy that I wanted to share with you by writing this letter”.
