Circular eco-districts: this is the current theme developed by the Terni Host Lions Club, chaired by Alessandra Robatto, on the occasion of the convivial held on Tuesday 26 March. There were two very prestigious speakers: the engineer Laura Cutaia, head of the Enea sustainability and resource valorisation laboratory (Casaccia-Bracciano headquarters) and Professor Francesca Testella, Enea technologist and professor of environmental and Civil protection at the University of Macerata. The topic, discussed in front of an audience of around one hundred guests of the Club, is linked to the national strategy for the circular economy which involves companies, private individuals and public administration, with the reduction of at least 45% of greenhouse gas emissions as target. The contribution of the two professionals was important, including technical-legal and business indications, from the operational paths to follow to existing experiences developed over time both in Italy and abroad. In the Terni area – it was recalled – there is the Narni eco-circular district which involves, in complete recycling, most of the companies present in the Narni Scalo area, as illustrated by the municipal councilor Giovanni Rubini. But above all it was reiterated that the interest of Mite, of which Enea is a partner and consultant, is to meet the companies and stakeholders to be stimulated through the availability of huge financial resources and simplified implementation plans. «Copying nature, its life cycles and complete reuse of every element of the production process – it has been said – becomes an imperative not only to contain and govern the risks associated with climate change, but to recycle, reuse, repair all of this which is produced anyway.” A 180 degree reversal compared to planned obsolescence and the idea of perpetual and uncontrolled growth. Those present who intervened with questions and considerations that were entirely acceptable were attentive and participatory. The speakers gave full availability to meet companies, interest groups and provide operational indications while also reporting the specific needs of the applicants. The Lions Club Terni Host thus confirms, once again, its ‘we serve’ action in concrete terms and with targeted actions in favor of the community.
