Genoa – “Maximum attention to crowded places and intensification of surveillance of risky targets”. These are the decisions adopted by the Prefect of La Spezia Maria Luisa Inversini during the meeting of the Provincial Committee for public order and safety, together with the police and representatives of the Municipality and the Province.

The measures were decided following the terrorist attack in Moscow and the approach of Easter. The control activity of the territory has been strengthened, especially in places frequented by tourists and where there is a greater concentration of people, including, if necessary, the use of the drone used by the local police of La Spezia. They were increase surveillance measures in railway stations and motorway rest areas.

Security measures in the port area and at boarding for the Cinque Terre along the Passeggiata Morin have also been increased. “I thank the law enforcement personnel who, in these festive days, will be on duty to ensure everyone’s safety, taking time away from family life”, concluded the prefect.

Trenitalia reinforces staff to manage flows in stations

The flow management plan dedicated exclusively to travelers in the Cinque Terre stations comes into force over the weekend. “The objective of the Italian Railway Network is to improve the quality of travel and the safety standards of thousands of people who use trains every day to move between the tourist pearls of eastern Liguria – we read in a note – They will be up to 23 people are involved in this project organized by RFI who, starting from Saturday 30 March, will be present in the seven stations of Levanto, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Riomaggiore, Manarola and La Spezia”.

The staff – employed by external companies to which the activity has been contracted for the entire summer period – will be present every day from 9.30 to 18.30 and will be dedicated to the control and management of crowding, to checking the freedom of escape routes and the points of greatest passage of travellers, in compliance with safety rules and will offer orientation support to travelers in transit in the stations. The staff will work in close contact with the police.

“To these workers are added the employees of the FS Italiane Group, already present in the station and on board the train to offer information, check the regular possession of travel documents, deal with and prevent problematic situations – we read again in the note – Furthermore, to further improve flows, on Easter Sunday and Monday the second new access staircase to Vernazza station will temporarily open. The work will then undergo finishing and decoration work in the following days and will then definitively reopen to the public on April 10th.”
