the sensational revelation about Paolo Villaggio

“We Ligurians are shit”: the actor Dario Vergassola66 years old, confessed in a long and intimate interview with Corriere della Sera, often referring to his Liguria. Among his anecdotes about his fellow countrymen, here is one about Paolo Villaggio: “We had done the drama Carabinieri together and one day I went to Rome. I met him sitting in a restaurant. He took my hand and started crying: ‘My wife left me and took the dogs away, stay with me because I’m desperate’. I had an urgent job interview but I didn’t feel like abandoning him and so I stayed with him all afternoon, until his assistant arrived. I took the employee aside and told him that I was worried about Paolo and for his reaction to his wife’s abandonment. The assistant looked at me in dismay: ‘What abandonment, the lady is at home waiting for him'”. The reason for that lie? “Simply because he didn’t want to spend an afternoon alone,” explained Vergassola.

Speaking about his region, the actor then explained how to eat it focaccia typical of the place: “With black coffee and so greasy that if the oil bubble doesn’t form on the cappuccino it’s not worth it. I remember the day I met focaccia: at my aunt’s house, the oven was opened and it came out a smell that was a real initiation for me.” Referring instead to the beautiful paths of the Ligurian hinterland, Vergassola said: “It’s a shame that we Ligurians, as a joke, turn the warning signs upside down to cheat the ‘foreigner’, with the aim of making him get lost in the mountains and convincing him with good manners to desist from ‘exploration of these territories, which will forever be hostile to him.”
