It remains an undisputed anthem Night before exams by Antonello Venditti for students who will soon have to face the dreaded final exam. Even 40 years after its release. Despite the years and the technological changes that have transformed the way we listen to music, Venditti’s piece remains a constant in the playlists of high school graduates. A survey conducted by Skuola.net, which involved 1,000 students about to take the 2024 high school leaving exam, reveals that 9 out of 10 high school graduates still consider this song to be the soundtrack par excellence of the State Exam. But beyond Venditti, today’s students listen to a wide range of songs ranging from timeless classics to contemporary hits.

Between current hits and timeless classics

Among the most listened to songs of the moment are: Sex and samba by Tony Effe ft. Gaia, 100 Messages of Lazza, Paprika of Ghali, Like a thunder by Rose Villain and Guè Pequeno. It’s also in the top 10 of current hits Melodrama by Angelina Mango, her summer single. They follow The last poem by Geolier and Ultimo, The gold pibe And Somewhere else. There is no shortage of Tedua, although lower in the ranking Calm sea. Finally, anticipating becoming the hits of summer 2024, there are Torcida by Bresh e Tappet by Shakira. However, there is no shortage of other timeless classics, from We Are the Champions by Queen (selected by 16%) a Another Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd (chosen by 9%). Some songs from Sanremo 2024 also echo, such as But what an idea by Pino D’Angiò with bnkr44, Boredom of Mango, I’m for me, you’re for you by Geolier.

Music streaming

The survey revealed that 39% of students use music mainly to relax and chase away bad thoughts, while 30% consider it to be an excellent source of inspiration. A good 21% of students prefer to study with headphones, immersed in their favorite tracks. The majority of high school graduates (85%) use streaming platforms to listen to music. Among these, over a third have created a playlist specifically for graduation, with “Night before exams” at the top of the list. Music therefore remains an essential element for students facing final exams, guaranteeing a mix of comfort, inspiration and motivation.
