A thought full of affection for Silvia, his firstborn, a girl with such a difficult story behind her. On her Instagram, Sonia Bruganelli, producer and ex-wife of Paolo Bonolis, dedicated a post to her: «You always knew that I would be able to become the mother you deserved to have… Thank you for loving me even when I didn’t,” she wrote, commenting on an image of Silvia, now 21 years oldwhen she was still a child. «Today this photo appears to me and I remember the exact moment I took it».

Both Paolo Bonolis and Sonia Bruganelli, who also have two other children, Davide and Adele, have spoken several times about the health problems that Silvia has had to face. When Sonia was pregnant, the couple discovered that her daughter had one severe heart disease and that she would be operated on as soon as she was born: «That day my life completely changed. The last month of pregnancy was shocking and I don’t have photos of Silvia as a newborn because I was somehow afraid of becoming attached. I took the first photos of her at four months old”, admitted Bruganelli, speaking to very true. “I didn’t feel like a mother emotionally up to that difficult situation, I was criticized a lot for it, but Paolo gave me enormous strength.”
Immediately after birth, Silvia underwent that delicate surgery. And, a few days later, she had hypoxia that caused her permanent neurological damage.
TO BeastsSonia Bruganelli had recounted the drama of those moments: «A great disappointment for me, for a person used to always trying to have the best, a child with an illness, even selfishly, was devastating. I was only 27 years old, the suffering was too much to handle. First of all, it was a very strong existential crisis, which had repercussions within the family, so much so that it led me to distance myself from Paolo. I abdicated the role of mother and Paolo found himself acting as mother and father for more than a year to our daughter, who had enormous difficulties.”
Even today, the problems that Silvia faced seem like a great injustice to her: «I always ask myself: why her? I hear people who in situations like this say they have received a gift. I do not, I don’t consider it a gift».
And Paolo Bonolis also recently explained to Courier: «I am very happy with Silvia, very happy with how cheerful she is, I love her with all my heart, she amuses me, she is full of energy. But what happened happened, and as the Marquis del Grillo said: Could I still be a little pissed off about this? It makes me angry because I have no weapons to deal with it other than acceptance and love. But it hurts me. That’s all”.
Even if, today, Paolo and Sonia are separated (in June 2023 they revealed it to Vanity Fair), continue to be a family: «We are parents, we will continue to go on holidays together, we will maintain the same dynamics. For our children we have always been mom and dadIt does not change anything”.
