Carlo Conti begins to define his Sanremo. Guest of «Un caffè» with Giorgia Cardinaletti, on Rai1, Carlo Conti anticipated some new features of the regulations of the next Festival. «The winner of the New Proposals will probably be announced on the cover evening». And again: «There will be no eliminations, it would be anachronistic», he explained, adding that he does not intend to «throw away» the work of Baglioni and Amadeus, but to make «very small changes».
After years of endless marathons in the night, the artistic director announced that the Festival evenings will end earlier: «In Sanremo I will finish earlier and put the Afterfestival back on». The songs competing, therefore, “will obviously be fewer”. Songs that are already starting to arrive but the actual listening, explains Conti, will take place between the end of August and the beginning of September. And he admits: “I feel a lot of responsibility for the choice.” As for the co-hosts, Conti excluded the presence of his historical friends Giorgio Panariello and Leonardo Pieraccioni: «No, it would be trivial. Maybe they’ll call me.”
