In the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power we will meet several new characters who will animate the events of Middle-earth in the mythical Second Age. We will not, however, see one of the protagonists of the first season again, that is Nazanin Boniadi, interpreter of the healer Bronwyn. It was the actress herself who decided to leave the series before the start of filming the second cycle of episodes and, with a post on Instagram, she gave further explanations.

The Rings of Power 2 will do without Nazanin Boniadi

Boniadi’s character, Bronwyn, is a single mother and healer from the Southlands, whose mind and curiosity go unappreciated by those around her. Only one sees her for who she truly is: the Elven soldier Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordoba). But Arondir is hated by Bronwyn’s fellow villagers, and this makes any relationship between them forbidden. Sources close to the production of the series Prime Video they made it known that the role will not be reassigned to another actress.

In 2022, Boniadi decided to focus his attention on a crisis affecting the real world: the protests that erupted in his home country, Iran, in September of that year following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini while she was in police custody. Using the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom,” protesters opposed Iran’s religious laws that were being used unfairly against women like Amini. The actress has since made the decision to focus on the protest taking a break from acting.
