Vanessa Ferrari, the iconic athlete of Italian gymnastics, will not take part in the 2024 Paris Olympics due to a calf injury suffered in training. Ferrari, who was preparing for the World Championships, will thus be forced to give up what would have been her fifth Olympics due to too short a time limit which will not allow the gymnast to recover in time to take to the stage.
The message on social media: “Thanks to those who supported me”
“My journey towards Paris 2024 ends here. Yesterday, in the gym, during the test in preparation for next week’s Italian Championships, during a jump, my calf gave way,” Ferrari wrote on his Instagram profile to accompany the video of the injury. “I embarked on this journey with the desire to fight to the end, but also with the awareness that there could be this type of outcome, it’s part of the game. However, even though I’ve had many injuries in my career, you never get used to it and the blow is always strong, especially after three years of training and one month away from the final goal.” “Now,” he concluded, “I need a moment to metabolise this hard blow but I want to thank everyone who supported me and who always believed in me because the support I received has always been fundamental.”
