Elisa Tarasco candidate in the province of Cuneo, with Fratelli d’Italia, for the Piedmont Regional Council elections on 8 and 9 June, reflects on a topic of great importance for everyone: healthcare.
“I would like to focus on the future of the two hospitals in Saluzzo di Savigliano and the construction of the Monviso hospital which will be built between Saluzzo and Savigliano after having been approved by 56 municipalities in the Savigliano, Saluzzo and Fossanese areas in the territory of the ‘North West Quadrant’ of the ASL Cn1 .
The Saluzzo Hospital is a historic garrison that continues to be a point of reference for Saluzzo and its valleys.
During the pandemic period it had been converted into a Covid Hospital together with the Ceva hospital, following the provisions of the Piedmont Region Crisis Unit, and had around seventy beds available exclusively for Covid patients.
Both the emergency rooms in Ceva and Saluzzo are currently closed at night and patients must contact the nearest hospitals in Mondovì and Savigliano.
Today, with the construction of the new Monviso Hospital, we find ourselves at a crossroads. There are those who fear that the Saluzzo garrison could be marginalized, losing its centrality.
In recent years, however, the Saluzzo hospital has recorded significant growth, thanks to structural interventions and the acquisition of new and modern equipment.
10 million euros have been allocated to transform it into a territorial hub, suitable for managing chronic conditions while emergencies will be treated in the new single hospital under construction.
In Saluzzo, the works to host the new Dialysis department have recently been completed and in just over a month, the service will be operational again and will have 12 beds, compared to the previous 8.
Regarding the Savigliano hospital, while waiting for the new structure of the Monviso hospital, the Santissima Annunziata will remain a cornerstone for Saluzzo-Savigliano-Fossano as a first-level emergency, urgency and acceptance department (DEA), where services will continue excellent services with cutting-edge technologies.
I believe that in terms of healthcare, the modernization of structures is essential to guarantee better services, so the new hospital is welcome.
The creation of socio-health structures such as the ‘Community House’ where patients can access to connect with the health, socio-health and social assistance system even in areas far from hospital facilities is important.
An example is the one opened in Verzuolo thanks to the financial intervention of the Region together with the ASL Cn1.
We must work together to create a healthcare system that is efficient, equitable and accessible to all. Together we can build a better future for the health of our territory”.
