The New Multipurpose Intensive Care Unit

Work begins on the new multi-purpose post-operative intensive care unit on the sixth floor of the Polyclinic.

An intervention that will mainly concern internal construction works, but which will also include the construction of modern air conditioning and air exchange systems.

The construction site will last 15 months, is spread over an area of ​​1072 square metres, involves the construction of eleven beds (three intensive care units in open space and 8 in single rooms dedicated to viral pathologies), and requires an investment of 4 million and 500 thousand euros.

The company currently has around one hundred beds in intensive care.

In 2023, 1700 patients were treated following elective surgeries, of which 200 were after urgent surgeries.

Last year’s excellence was the 54 lung transplant recipients with an average age of 55 years (also worth mentioning was the care of a pediatric patient), an average hospital stay of seven days, an average post-operative invasive ventilation of 43 hours.

The Institute of Anesthesia and Resuscitation (IST.AR3), where mainly people with very serious respiratory syndromes or serious injuries to the respiratory tract are hospitalised, is a regional reference center for acute respiratory failure thanks to advanced monitoring and advanced treatments ( RESPIRA network). It should be noted that from 2019 to 2023 the consumption of antibiotics in intensive care was reduced exponentially.

The Company participates in eight international multicentre trials, collaborates with leading European (France, Germany, UK) and international (Canada, USA, New Zealand, China) centers and has published around a hundred articles in the most prestigious journals in the last two years. .
