Vaccine bluff, the nurse convicted of treasury damage

The 52-year-old nurse from Falconara accused of having bluffed about vaccines and having thrown away hundreds of serums over the course of approximately three months while working at a vaccination center on behalf of the public health company he worked for. The nurse had also ended up under investigation in the ordinary court for embezzlement, corruption and ideological falsehood for having committed crimes, for which he risks being prosecuted, during the vaccination campaign.

Ancona, conviction for tax damage to the nurse who simulated vaccines

The nurse accused of throwing away hundreds of serums while working at a vaccination center was convicted of treasury damage.

Recognizing his administrative responsibility, the accounting judges charge him with pecuniary damage of over 8 thousand euros, the equivalent of one hundred doses of vaccine that he would have wasted instead of administering it and the expense costed to the State to prepare staff and work shifts estimated at more than 50 euros per session.

The story dates back to the period between November 2021 and January 2022 when the nurse, assigned to the vaccination hub at the Paolinelli sports center in Ancona, allegedly pretended to administer the anti-Covid vaccine in exchange for money.

For each dose not administered, the nurse would have pocketed 300 euros from consenting subjects who asked to obtain the green pass without getting vaccinated. He therefore simulated the injections by spraying the contents of the syringe on the ground or into rubbish bins. Arrested in connection with a crime during a thorough investigation by the flying squad of 77 people involved, the nurse was arrested and taken to prison.

Although the damage to the treasury had been initially estimated higher (over 13 thousand euros for 115 wasted doses), the Court of Auditors has established that the nurse will have to pay 8,329.24 euros to the public coffers, of which 1,946 euros to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and 6,383.24 euros to the single regional health authority (Asur), now divided into five territorial health companies (Ast).

After the conclusion of the preliminary investigations in June 2023, the prosecutor’s office has not yet expressed its opinion on the indictment of the nurse who has meanwhile been ordered released from prison.
