The portal “Land of Beauty” won i Webby Awardsawards given byInternational Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences for excellence on the Internet. This is an important award, which is also called the Internet Oscar or the Web Oscar. Just think that famous people such as Francis Ford Coppola, David Bowie, Martha Stewart, Matt Groening have been part of the academy. To find out more, idealist/news asked some questions to Luigi Vergani And Nicola Gasco of the communication agency Vergani&Gasco, which developed the site that won the prestigious award. “This project – they explained – was born immediately after the first lockdown, when getting back to moving also meant going back to looking (probably with new eyes) at one’s own territory and rediscovering the beauty of its productive fabric made up of thousands of specialized companies that create the famous Made in Italy style on a daily and concrete basis.”

What is “Land of Beauty” and what does it do?

“Land of Beauty is a portal developed by the communication agency Vergani&Gasco.

It is an experimental project created to promote Brianza (a small piece of land located between Lake Como and Milan) and its productive pearl: design and furnishings, the flagship of Made in Italy.

The underlying idea is to create a synergistic game between the territorial promotion of Brianza, an area rich in history, culture and beauty, and the thousands of furniture manufacturing companies that operate within its borders.

The common thread is therefore discovery, discovery both of the over 10,000 companies in the sector and of the territory in which they are born, operate and from which they draw inspiration, as well as the discovery of the very dense socio-cultural relationships that represent the lifeblood of this wonderful productive fabric.

From this idea three ideal paths were born (the way of Charme, the way of Tradition and the way of Design) which accompany the user in discovering the area and its furniture producers who work there, helping him to identify the style most suited to the own way of understanding beauty and ‘bien vivre’, starting from the over 1,000 products presented and narrated”.

When was this reality born, why and with what objectives?

“This project was born immediately after the first lockdown, when getting back to moving also meant going back to looking (probably with new eyes) at one’s own territory and rediscovering the beauty of its productive fabric made up of thousands of specialized companies that create the famous Made in Italy style.

The objective: to want to communicate this unicum to the world – a small territory rich in charm, culture and tradition – taking care of all aspects from the concept, naming and definition of the style, to storytelling, to the creation of the portal and IT architecture, to the coordination of the various stakeholders”.

How will it develop in the future?

“The project has great potential for evolution and expansion: the contents will be further expanded, enriching both the narrative of the territory and that of the products, as well as the communication activity on the various social channels, which have attracted a lot of interest and involvement from the international audience”.

What are the Webby Awards?

“The Webby Awards are recognized as the Oscars of the Web and have been defined by New York Times the highest recognition in the Internet worldwide.

The award is organized by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences in New York. Famous people such as Francis Ford Coppola, David Bowie, Martha Stewart and Matt Groening have been part of the academy. The aim of the award is to recognize and reward global excellence in the field of digital design.

The award recognizes excellence on the Internet with categories in websites, interactive advertising, online and mobile film and video.

The selection process for the twenty-eighth competition began at the beginning of 2024 when the Webby jury, made up of critics, communications experts and entertainment personalities, evaluated over 13,000 projects: the screening process led to the identification of a very limited list of projects ( only five per category). Over 600,000 users and 2 million votes decided the winners. The proclamation took place on Monday 13 May 2024 during an official ceremony held in New York, in the heart of Wall Street, by Cipriani”.

What does it mean to have obtained this recognition?

“Having won the Webby Awards is an inexplicable emotion! Seeing your work among the world’s largest companies is something wonderful, intoxicating and somewhat scary!

Being among Google, Apple, Disney, CNN, Virgin Galactic and NASA is literally extraordinary.

We are proud of this project and of having brought our territory and one of its productive pearls to the roof of the world. Winning this very important award for the second time represents the most authoritative confirmation of the quality of our work.”
