She is an “art” wife and daughter: Chiara Bontempi, wife of Gianmarco Tamberifamous Olympic champion in the high jump, is also the daughter of former rider Piergiorgio Bontempi, who competed in the Superbike World Championship. Born in Ancona in 1995, she «grew up in certain atmospheres, experiencing certain tensions. I’ve known how to do it since I was a child.”
And it is perhaps also for this reason that Tamberi finds fundamental support in Chiara: she is always present in the stands, ready to run to hug him and congratulate him after every victory. Chiara Bontempi has a brother, Pierfrancesco, and her mother is the owner of a home improvement shop, Blanc Mariclo. After graduation in Veronashe split her time between Milan and Rome for work: now manages the administrative part of the company with Gianmarco and the sample’s image rights.
Chiara and «Gimbo» are married just under two years ago, in September 2022, at Villa Imperiale, in Pesaro. But they have been together forever: they met in 2009 and immediately fell in love. “Ours is a fairytale love story,” she told al Courier«started with love at first sight at 14 years old».
It was shortly before leaving for the Tokyo Olympics that Tamberi proposed to his girlfriend that she marry him: “There is only one last thing I absolutely had to do before leaving for these Olympics of mine,” he told her. «I wanted to show you that you are absolutely the most important thing in my life, much more important than any of my dreams or objective. In an interview given to very true in September 2023, Gianmarco Tamberi spoke about his love story, consolidated even in the most difficult moments, such as, in 2016, when he got injured. «I owe a lot to her for how she was close to me in those very difficult years. She dedicated herself to me, to my dream which then became ours». That time, Tamberi also demonstrated the desire for a child: «We talk about it often, we would love it. We just want to give the right time to all things.”
