She thought she had managed to talk to Keanu Reeves, protagonist of the Matrix saga and John Wick, and of having started a relationship with him after a virtual meeting on TikTok. The actor, as is known, however, has no social network and the woman was the victim of a scam that cost her as much as 700 thousand euros.
This is what happened to Katy, a woman from Barcelona who was invited on the Spanish television program “En boca de todos” to talk about her misadventure with coli who pretended to be her idol.
The approach
«You are a humble boy who loves rock and motorbikes», this is the message with which it all began, sent on TikTok by Katy who believed she had thus reached her idol. Against all expectations, the woman received a short time later, via Telegram, a message from Keanu Reeves who seemed to have done everything to find her: «I couldn’t believe he had called me, but the voice was hers, just like in his movie”.
The request
The two began to converse in English more and more frequently, for Katy it was incredible that she managed to form a relationship with the Canadian actor who, as soon as the time seemed right, started asking for money.
He had told her that she was the woman of his life and she, as he admitted, had fallen madly in love with her. She «she asked me for 5,000 euros for a special computer on which she could create her screenplay for John Wick 5».
With the excuse of the production of her latest film, the requests multiplied and the amounts also began to rise: in the final count the woman sent 16 different payments for a total of 700 thousand euros. Since these were such large sums, she had to resort to selling some of her property, ending up in debt for a cause that she didn’t imagine could have such an impact.
The discovery
«I felt used, like a broken doll», said the woman, who as time passed began to have suspicions regarding the authenticity of her Keanu Reeves’ voice: «I began to think that he had been created with ‘artificial intelligence’, he admitted in the programme, which is why he decided to go to the police and tell everything.
