«I will start chemotherapy again, after the operation it is as if I were reborn a second time»

Last May 2nd he accompanied his eldest son to the altar, Andrea Rizzoli and a few days later it was to Donatello’s Davids in the company of his second son, Paolo Ciavarro, to reward Michele Riondino. But now for Eleonora Giorgi the time has come to think about herself, which means going back to taking care of her health. «Now I will start chemotherapy again – announced the actress from the pages of “Gente” – and I won’t stop fighting». In October last year, Giorgi discovered that she had pancreatic cancer and on March 26th she underwent surgery. «At the beginning I didn’t want to have the operation – she admitted in the interview – I thought that the course of my life was practically over. If I had to die, then I wanted to end my days in a normal way, without devastating treatments, without therapeutic ordeals, all I wanted was my little nephew (Gabriele, son of Paolo and Clizia Incorvaiaed.) reminded me of being emaciated and haggard like a corpse, as unfortunately happened to me in the last days of my mother’s life.”

The operation went well and in April the 70-year-old actress returned home and it is precisely for the love of her family that she continues to fight and does not intend to give up. «After the surgery it’s as if I were reborn a second time-she explained. Pancreatic cancer it is among the most dangerous, with a significant mortality rate. I had to undergo the first chemotherapy to burn it and then an operation, which was neither simple nor obvious. The intervention it was done in a masterly way and it went well: they removed the tail of my pancreas and my spleen. First I swelled up, then I lost a few kilos, but the oncologist says that my response was perfect, that the scar is receding.”

As for her current conditions, Giorgi is optimistic. «I confess that I often feel like I have a mine in my belly and it hurts, but I don’t get discouraged. I will do a new cycle of chemo to avoid the possibility that the tumor “seed” has splattered who knows where and takes root elsewhere. I start on May 13th and I will finish at the end of June, close to Paolo and Clizia’s wedding.” In fact, initially the couple’s wedding was scheduled for October 11th, but recently there was a change of plans and they were brought forward to July 12th and they will no longer be celebrated in Campania, but in Versilia. «My sons, my daughters-in-law, my ex-husband Massimo Ciavarro who, surprising me, as soon as he heard (about the illness) left Lampedusa and came to Rome to be by my side. For them I will fight for life to the end and I will never give up”, promised Giorgi.
