At the evening of Donatello’s Davids, Paola Cortellesi was the first to go up and collect a statuette for “There’s Still Tomorrow”, the public’s David. The film awards her again as best leading actress and best directorial debut. And she wins several statuettes. «We are the spectators, we are all of us and I like to think that there is everything among them, even those who don’t think like me. Thanks to the 5 million people who left their homes, looked for parking and paid for the ticket to see my film”, says the Roman actress and director.
«This is the only certainty – said Cortellesi – I want to thank the spectators, we dream of full rooms and shared emotions. I thank my producers who, faced with a film in black and white, in Roman dialect, with ballets and with beatings, wanted to do so, to the artistic and technical cast. I don’t like those who consider the public a mass of strangers, we all are and I like to think that there are those who have fought, those who have made mistakes, those who don’t think like me. Thanks to the five million who made the heroic gesture of leaving their homes, paying for a ticket, looking for parking to see our film, like that gentleman from Turin who said ‘I’m one of those children they sent over there’ and the lady from Genoa who said ‘I was Delia but I’m not anymore’. Following this, Emanuela Fanelli, in the same film, won the award for best supporting actress. «I didn’t think so, I made some toasts, it’s an honor to participate with these wonderful colleagues. I’m not going to be a priest again Honeymoons like last year I will be brief”, declared the actress. To then turn to “Paola”: «Thank you for wanting your Marisa to be me and for allowing me to be a piece of this great thing that is your film, because you made it».
“There’s Still Tomorrow” also won the award for best original screenplay. The best supporting actor goes to Elio Germano for Palazzina Laf.

Gold suit and the homage to Fellini
The sixty-ninth edition of the David di Donatello awards, live from Fellini’s studio 5 and broadcast on Rai1 in a broadcast hosted by Carlo Conti and Alessia Marcuzzi, opened with a tribute to Federico Fellini: a choreography by Luca Tomassini that pays homage to the great director. Immediately afterwards Mahmood entered the scene with his “Gold Tracksuit” starting the evening.
