Amadeus becomes honorary citizen of Vignale Monferrato: this is the municipality in the province of Alessandria where the presenter married Giovanna Civitillo in 2009.

The invitation came directly from the mayor of the Piedmontese town, Ernesta Corona: the TV presenter, star of the last five consecutive editions of Sanremo, is expected on Saturday 20 April at Vignale Monferrato where he will receive honorary citizenship.

Everything is ready in Vignale Monferrato for the ceremony which will confer honorary citizenship on Amadeus, born Amedeo Umberto Rita Sebastiani: in the municipality that rises among the UNESCO World Heritage hills, a big party is also planned in Piazza del Popolo, in front of Palazzo Callori.

Ernesta Coronamayor of Vignale Monferrato, spoke about the great event like this: “It is right to celebrate this close relationship with our country to recognize how much the territory loves a person like him – we read in the ‘Corriere della Sera’ – I prepared everything and ordered everything , also booking a magnificent and sunny day.”

Precisely in Vignale, Amadeus was convoyed to wedding with civil ceremony in 2009 with Giovanna Civitillo, a dancer she met a few years earlier when “Ama” hosted the Rai 1 program “L’Eredità”. From the union between the two, their son José Alberto was born. Previously Amadeus had already been married and had a daughter, Alice Vittoria, born in 1997.

Farewell to Rai

The news of the honorary citizenship comes just in the days in which Amadeus announced his decision to leave Rai to start a new work adventure. The presenter chose to publish a video through his official Instagram profile to make his announcement:

“Working at Rai for many years has been a source of pride, responsibility and immense pleasure for me – declared Amadeus in the video published on Instagram – at public service my heartfelt thanks go. It was not an easy choice for me also considering the important efforts made by Rai to retain me. The programs that I have had the opportunity and joy of creating belong to the public, but they represent for me a piece of heart and life. I gave it my all. Now it’s time for new professional and personal challenges. It’s time for new dreams. Thank you all”.

Born on 4 September 1962 in Ravenna, voted one of the best provinces in Italy for quality of life, Amadeus has a long history with Rai, with dozens of programs hosted from 1999 to today.

Amadeo Sebastiani was the artistic director of the Sanremo Festivalfrom 2020 to 2024. The first edition saw the victory of Diodato with “Fai Noiso”, while the following year it was Maneskin who triumphed on the stage of the Ariston Theater with “Zitti e Buoni”: an exploit that launched the Roman band towards international success.

Blanco and Mahmood won the third Festival hosted by Amadeus with the song “Brividi”, Marco Mengoni the fourth with “Due vite”. Amadeus’ last Sanremo instead saw the birth of Angelina Mango’s star, winner with the song “La noia”.
