Was there a moment in your life when you decided you would be an actress?

I began my career as a dancer at a very young age and quickly learned the importance of hard work to achieve success. Before deciding to become an actress, I invested what I had earned from dancing in acting lessons and after two years of study, I became even more convinced that my desire was to act and that I had finally discovered my true passion. I remember with happiness my first steps into the world of acting with the series Sana Bir Sır Vereceğim: It was my first time on a set.

As an actress, but also as a person, what is your relationship with the constant search for success?

The constant pursuit of excellence is something I experience in both my personal and professional life. I always want to be successful in what I do. It might take me a while to start a journey, but when I start it I simply aim for the best. My determination and love for achieving a goal often makes the path challenging, being very responsible can be a heavy burden to carry. When I direct my energies exclusively towards a project or a dream, I sometimes find myself disconnected from the outside world and this often affects my private life. What helps me find balance though, is spending time with friends and family in my free moments.

To get into the characters you played, costumes and makeup definitely play a fundamental role. What is your relationship with the body and beauty?

Costumes and make-up play a fundamental role in the construction of my characters. I adapt to the character’s needs during the creation process. As far as beauty and body care are concerned, however, a regular skincare routine with specific treatments is essential.

And with fashion? What are the essential items in your wardrobe?

As for fashion, in everyday life I have a casual chic style: jeans, t-shirts and blazers are the essential items for me. Comfort is fundamental, especially during moments of work on set: a comfortable tracksuit is my must have.

On set, what makes you feel comfortable? Do you have a particular ritual that you repeat before starting?

A support team and good communication are key on set. Building relationships with colleagues is essential to creating a healthy work environment. No matter the character or the script, if the entire crew and direction are not well organized, sometimes you fall behind expectations. In this regard, relationships on set are very important for the success of a series or film. You spend most of your days together, so working with people with whom you can communicate easily is a great relief. Although this isn’t really a ritual, the excitement and passion leads me to throw myself into a project as soon as my heart beats: I need to feel the spark before I do something big.

What do you expect from the future? Are you a perfectionist or do you live day by day?

I always start my days asking myself, “How could I be better?” Dreams, plans and recognition guide my aspirations for the future. It’s an incredible feeling to be recognized in places you visit for the first time. At the moment I am aiming above all for international success with the projects I create and also exploring opportunities in the theatre. My career dreams are never-ending: I would love to combine my love for dance and my passion for acting in a musical. Yes, inherently I am a perfectionist.

Was there a time in your life when you feared you wouldn’t make it?

I try not to dwell on the fear of failure and negativity. The mentality of always thinking about how to improve myself more every day pushes me towards success.

From when you started to today, have your role models changed? What would you say if you could talk to little Demet?

Throughout my career, female characters with strong personalities have always fascinated me and my admiration for them remains constant. I can’t identify a single reference model, but rather they are aspects of many different people, coming from different worlds and cultures put together. Thinking back to little Demet, today I would tell her to never give up on her dreams and to embrace both successes and failures. I would tell her to dream the same things and to never be afraid of making those mistakes that made me who I am today. As I always say, regrets are never a waste of time.

And if you had a teenage daughter, what advice would you give her for her future?

I would first of all give you advice based on my experiences, but I would understand very well that you might not understand it. I believe that you have to make mistakes in life, because mistakes are also part of personal growth: I often wonder who I would have become today if I hadn’t made some of the mistakes I made. For this reason I would leave her a lot of freedom of choice, always staying by her side to help her get up when she falls.

What really makes you happy?

To this day, what really gives me joy and happiness are chatting with friends, travelling, books, family breakfasts or, sometimes, just stopping and looking at the world. In addition to the difficulties and negativities we encounter every day, there is much more in life to be grateful and happy: the important thing is to enjoy the present in an authentic way. This for me is true happiness.
