On board the Mitsubishi Asx: here is our test

We abstain. We refrain from the somewhat cloying spiel that is bouncing around here and there just because it’s cool. The new Mitsubishi ASX generation 2024 is, in practice, the Capture? Maybe? Sure? But? Different twins? Separated at birth? But who cares, right? The one we drove on the hairpin bends and the very narrow roads that made us climb the Tolfa hills and then reach the shores of Lake Bracciano and then again find our way through the ordinary chaos of Rome, where traffic is just an opinion, remains only and exclusively, at least for us, the new Mitsubishi ASX A.D 2024. Or a B-Suv with prices starting from 24,400 euros and a 5-year warranty, which puts its best cards on the market table with the full hybrid HEV versions, the one we tested (1.6 with 145 HP) and mild hybrid, but also with the 1.0 three-cylinder petrol engines with 90 HP, which reach 100 in the LPG version, tailor-made for the Italian market always “greedy” for this propulsion system.

It is obvious that if the new Japanese compact car took shape on the CMF-B platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, the ASX consequently enjoys the elective and technological affinities of the Group, allowing itself to offer awide range of engines to satisfy every need. It would be a waste of time and ideas otherwise. But it is also true that the renewed ASX has and defends its own identity with a grille characterized by that “dynamic shield” that gives it a good dose of grit, accentuated by the LED lighting, the sculpted bonnet and the low air intakes. A distinctive design that continues in the side profile, which combines a fluid silhouette and a variation of colour between the body and the wheel arches and undersides, to give it an agile sporty position.

In short, a B-SUV with “broad shoulders” that reveals itself when you get on board light thanks to the large panoramic sunroof, 69 centimetres wide, which offers three intermediate opening options. When asked comfort the 2024 Mitsubishi ASX responds with the rear bench that slides forward 16 centimeters increasing trunk capacity or greater legroom. All things considered, that’s 69 liters of extra load capacity in addition to the standard 332 liters with the seats in the front position. There are also ample other storage options available in the passenger compartment as the pocket, central armrest and door storage compartments offer over 22 liters of space. Significant progress also on the Ada front. Other features include cruise control, intelligent speed assistance, distance warning and lane assist, automatic emergency braking, attention monitoring, rear sensors and a rear-view camera. Not least the progress in connectivity with the cornerstone of the infotainment system in the 10.4-inch vertical central screen. An excellent resolution screen that offers all the necessary information whether you choose wireless smartphone replication to access the driver’s favorite apps or when configuring driving modes and using on-board services. All this thanks to Google Built-in in the infotainment system Smartphone-link display Audio (SDA) which paves the way for Google Maps and Google Play with the proven activation phrase “Hey Google”. The voice recognition system It can be used to control navigation, media streaming, telephone and vehicle functions.

The integration of a full suite of connected services is supported by the introduction of the My Mitsubishi Motors mobile app that “governs” the car even remotely. Four trims are available for the 2024 ASX: Inform, Invite, Intense and Instyle.
