Toyota, goodbye at the end of 2024: definitive stop to production

Toyota has made a very strong decision, which however has been in the air for some time. Here is what has been decided by the Japanese company.

The world’s largest car manufacturer and seller, namely the giant Toyotamade a very strong decision, opting for a definitive stop to the production of a much-loved car. Nowadays, in the market, there is not much room for feelings, but specific objectives must be pursued, even at the cost of sacrificing some products that have their own history.

Toyota, in this sense, could not do otherwise, due to a sharp decline in sales for this model, but he certainly didn’t do it to pursue the ecological transition. As we know, the president Akio Toyoda is not a fan of zero emissions, and the house of the Rising Sun is intent on continuing the development of new thermal and hybrid engines. In any case, a historic car will no longer be produced, and now we are going to reveal to you what is behind this choice.

Toyota officially stops production of the model

After many rumors, it’s official: Toyota will no longer produce the Supra equipped with the 4-cylinder engine, which was only introduced in 2021, just 3 years ago. This is the entry level version of this beautiful sports car, which otherwise has always been powered by a 6-cylinder engine. Well, from 2025 onwards, the 4-cylinder version will no longer be available in the price list, and anyone who wants to have one will have to order it immediately, or look for it on the used market in the coming years.

A spokesperson for the Japanese company, interviewed by “Motor1.com“, confirmed this news: “The 4-cylinder engine will no longer be available in our range“. It must be said that, overall, sales of the Supra in 2023 were not exceptional, with just 2,652 units registered, and now, the 4-cylinder version will disappear altogether. We are talking about that 2.0-liter turbo engine, which produces a whopping 255 horsepower of maximum power and 400 Nm of torque, equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The sprint between 0 and 100 km/h is completed in just 5 seconds, and it must be said that this is excellent performance. Toyota will now continue to focus on the Supra only in the 6-cylinder version, but it is clear that much more is expected from this model. We’ll see if the situation improves in the future, also because sports cars from other brands are growing a lot in terms of registrations.
