Negotiations between Wartsila and the unions have been interrupted

ROME – Negotiations between Wartsila and the unions have been interrupted. The comparison. In the first part of the meeting between trade union organisations, RSU and the multinational Wartsila, the company management illustrated the guidelines of the industrial plan for service and research and development for the period 2024-2027. “The trade union organizations – so the joint note from Fim, Fiom and National Film – also in order to be able to express a complete judgement, have requested from the company a detailed document of the plan on investments, staff, workloads and financial sustainability which commits the multinational to the continuity of activities in all the group’s Italian sites with the safeguarding of employment, declared to be 800 employees, for at least the entire duration of the plan”. In the second part of the meeting, Wartsila represented the value of the incentives to be provided to the workers who will be transferred from Wartsila to MSC as part of the reindustrialization process of the Trieste site. A proposal, that of the multinational, which as stated in the joint note “does not respond to union requests and workers’ expectations, a position which due to Wartsila’s responsibility did not allow progress in the negotiation”. The trade union organizations have asked Wartsila not to proceed, after 30 June, with unilateral initiatives with the opening of procedure 234/21 and dismissals, extending the solidarity contract at least for the month of July. “The union delegation – as the note concludes – is committed to the negotiation tables in building the conditions that allow us to define an agreement that gives prospects of employment continuity to both future employees of Mac and Wartsila within the times established by the Government internally of the path for the program agreement. Mimit and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region call on all parties involved to be equally consequent”.
