With these words, the Bitonto native Gennaro Sicolo, President of CIA Puglia and national vice president of the organization, expresses his satisfaction for the activation of the electronic Registry that will allow to have certain data regarding the acquisition and sale of cereal productions by all the subjects of the supply chain. The dialogue with the undersecretary La Pietra, whom we thank for having kept this commitment, has led to a first significant result that we have been asking for some time. The electronic Registry will make it possible to monitor cereal stocks, an indispensable tool to bring transparency to the markets and protect Made in Italy productions».
“I join in the thanks addressed by our national president Cristiano Fini to the parliamentarians of the majority and opposition and the applause expressed towards the undersecretary Patrizio Giacomo La Pietra, for having reintroduced Granaio Italia in the Agriculture Decree”. With the National Telematic Register, it will be possible to monitor the consistency of cereal stocks, also in order to introduce useful information to the market to reduce price volatility. Not only that, the objective of Granaio Italia is the complete traceability of grains, in all the different steps, especially when it comes to products imported from abroad.
“There is a need for transparency and certainty, for real monitoring of imports, so as to be able to put a stop to speculation to the detriment of Italian producers, which reduces profitability and puts the future of our cereal farming at risk.”
OTHER EMENTATIONS: XYLELLA AND SUPPLY CHAINS
Through the approval of two other amendments, the Senate Agriculture Committee has given the go-ahead to allocate thirty million euros for additional support for agricultural businesses damaged by Xylella; finally, five million euros have been allocated to the restructuring of the olive-oil, citrus fruit and dairy sectors (sheep’s and goat’s milk). Through amendment 3.38, the expenditure of 30 million euros has been authorised for the year 2024, useful for implementing investment measures for replanting and reconversion through resistant olive cultivars, as well as for reconversions towards other crops. The authorisation of the expenditure of five million euros destined for the restructuring of the olive-oil, citrus fruit and dairy sectors (sheep’s and goat’s milk) will be useful for supporting the recovery and relaunch of productivity and competitiveness.

“The cereal sector – adds Sicolo – is experiencing one of the most difficult periods in recent years. For this reason we welcome the decisions taken by the Senate Agriculture Commission. The hope is that it is the beginning of a useful path, also in coordination with Europe, to reverse the dynamics that, especially in the last two years, have completely eliminated profitability for the most important link in the supply chain, that of the producers”.
