Ryanair boarding pass on mobile phone, not permitted in these airports

Today there are more and more travelers who show the boarding pass on mobile phone, without the risk of forgetting it, avoiding hassles and above all opting for a more ecological solution than the paper counterpart. The Air company Ryanair accepts this method, as do many other companies, but has recently communicated that some airports do not consider it valid. The smartphone has now given way to traditional systems in numerous sectors, yet there are still limitations. The dematerialisation of identification documents, for example, is still in the development phase, while paying with your mobile phone is already child’s play. Usually also i tickets for means of transport they are valid in the digital version, but you must always be careful not to be carried away by force of habit and risk finding yourself without a travel ticket.

Ryanair has long admitted in addition to online check-in also digital documentation but warned travelers that the Mobile boarding passes are not permitted at some airports, under penalty of not being able to board the plane. Let’s see which airports these are and why.

Digital boarding passes are not permitted at these airports

  • Türkiye;
  • Morocco;
  • Tirana (Albania).

For all other destinations, however, the airline ensures the possibility of showing the boarding pass from your mobile phone, viamobile application dedicated or as a simple file. Presumably, the inability to accept the dematerialized version of the document is linked to specific local regulations, given that all other airports where the company operates do not follow the same rule.

For outbound flights, however, the regulations of the airline are valid starting location of the aircraft which, if it does not belong to those mentioned, allows the digital boarding pass.

What happens if I don’t have a paper boarding pass?

Without it it will therefore not be possible get on the plane, not even showing the digital equivalent. It is therefore necessary to take precautions in time (well in advance) and print your boarding pass after online check-in.

In this regard, it should be noted that sites and communities relating to travel (for example Tripadvisor) often provide interesting ideas, thanks to reports from travelers who have found themselves in similar situations, to know where to print the document quickly.
