Stellantis surprise: total turning point, two great successes return to thermals
Descriptive text here

The Stellantis group has made a very strong decision, which makes four-wheel purists dream. Here are the models that return to thermal.

Electric characterizes the world of four wheels, especially in terms of choice by manufacturers. The new regulations for cutting emissions have led brands to invest in zero emissions, but in terms of sales the results are not arriving, which negatively affects business. Well, the group Stellantis has a very clear plan, but its actual success will depend a lot on what the demand for electric vehicles will be.

Indeed, the Dutch multinational holding company would like to sell only BEVs in Europe starting from 2030, and reach 50% of electric sales in the USA. At the moment, the scenario appears very difficult to navigate, with Stellantis continuing to offer customers the possibility to choose between thermal and electric variants for their cars. In the last few hours, a very particular decision has been made known, which will certainly make supporters of zero emissions reflect.

Stellantis, here is the decision that has been officially made

Of the group Stellantis a large number of brands are members, with France and Italy having the largest number of representatives within them. Well, a sensational decision was made for Citroen and Peugeot productsin particular, regarding Berlingo and Rifter, that is to say two multispace vehicles designed for families, which have recently been updated in terms of design and engines.

Initially, it was thought to sell them only with zero emissions, but Stellantis thought better of it, also focusing on thermal. In fact, as was perhaps predictable, the high costs of the zero-emission versions have produced poor results in terms of sales, something that giants of this type certainly cannot afford. And this is how the French multinational holding company has opted for a change of direction for two of its reference brands, thus proposing new models equipped with a combustion engine, which are also much cheaper in terms of prices.

To date, the Citroen Berlingo is available again with the 100 horsepower BlueHdi diesel engine starting from 26,050 euros, but then a 130 horsepower engine, also diesel, and a full electric one with 136 horsepower are also at your disposal. Therefore, the zero-emission variant has certainly not been excluded, but it was decided to differentiate the offer, in order to leave the customer the freedom to choose which model to purchase.

Instead, the Peugeot Rifter starts from 22,025 euros, a very good price for families who need large spaces and who don’t want to spend excessive amounts. Here too we have the same diesel engines with 100 and 130 horsepower of maximum power, and then also leave room for the 1.2 PureTech petrol engine with 110 horsepower. The 136 horsepower full electric variant also remains at your disposal, and now the choice will be up to you alone.
