Without incentives Germany is -29%

There end of incentives, decided already in December, is causing the expected drops in sales in Germany. But there is no collapse that some are flaunting and indeed the market share of electric vehicles in March it rose again to 11.9% (in Italy we are at 3.3%…).

Tesla continues to lead the charge with Model Yproduct made in Germany (comes out of the Brandenburg Gigafactory), with 3,244 cars sold. But it also maintains the production of local brands, with two models from the Volkswagen group (ID.4-ID-5 And Cupra Born) on the podium. The ones who suffer are especially the smaller cars, on which the end of the bonuses is felt most.

Cleantechnica gives the example of Fiat 500ewhich dropped out of the top ten due to a price that, without incentives, is almost double the 500 Hybrid: 34,990 euro against 17,490. Too much difference even in a country where incomes are decidedly higher than in Italy. Sales of plug-in hybrid cars also fell: -4.5% a 16.016 registrations, with a market share of 6.1%.

Tesla Model Y and 10 “Germans” in the top ten of the quarter

Also in the quarter the Tesla Model Y is largely the market leader, with over 11 thousand cars sold. Followed, but at a considerable distance, by a pairing from the VW group, the usual ID.4-ID.5 and the Skoda Enyaq, respectively at altitude 4,226 And 3,922. Good result even for two models of a certain price like the Audi Q4 (fourth with 3,428 registrations) and the Mercedes EQA (2,766).

Model Y aside, the entire top ten of the quarter is monopolized by the large German groups, with tenth place occupied by a model at the end of production like the Smart EQ. There is no French car, there is no longer an Italian one due to the aforementioned price problems of the 500e, there is no Asian manufacturer. We’ll see what impact the small new features arriving will have, starting with the highly anticipated one Renault 5 and from Citroen eC3.
