In the name of continuity, because the Monterosso summer continues in the name of culture, which has a new leader in the Municipality. The working group that organizes the ‘Monterosso Un Mare di Libri’ event every year, the literary salon of the Cinque Terre which has reached its eighth edition this year (the first without the mayor Emanuele Moggia, the first with the mayor Francesco Sassarini) is finalizing the program for the months of July and August with the support of the Cinque Terre Tourist Consortium and the municipal administration.

The exhibition – with the artistic direction of the La Spezia journalist and writer Marco Ferrari – will be significantly opened on Monday 1st July, at 9.30pm at the Molo dei Pescatori, by Sigfrido Ranucci, host of the program Report, who will present the volume ‘The Choice’ published by Bompiani . Ranucci absolutely coincides with the work he carries out together with his Report team, one of the bastions of investigative journalism in Italy, which offers viewers the raw novel of the facts through rigorous research work. With ‘The Choice’ for the first time Ranucci tells the story of the path that has led him to this point; he does so by choosing some fundamental investigations of which he reveals the background, but also by evoking figures – such as his father, an athlete and financier of great charisma, and his teacher Roberto Morrione, founder of Rai News 24 – who forged in him the ability to bring every choice to the end: because doing journalism in the field means making decisions that change the course of things forever, in an intimate and collective sense. From these pages emerges the courageous self-portrait of a man who, despite the constant pressure of reality in its harshest aspects, does not give in to cynicism, does not stop wondering and asking us: ‘What is the right choice?’. And to find the answer every time, to respect the promise that binds him to an audience that still cares about legality and social justice. To participate as a public in ‘Monterosso Un Mare di Libri 2024’ no reservation is necessary. Entrance to the evenings is free and subject to availability. The event venues open at 8.30pm, with a maximum capacity of 200 seats and 30 standing.
