Pierdante Piccioni, the Cremonese head physician known as «Doctor Amnesia, from whose story the successful Rai series «Doc – In your hands» was based, returned to the novel by modeling as the protagonist, ironically, a neuroscientist who suffers from hypermnesia: he remembers every moment of his past life. It is a superpower that he has possessed since birth, associated with an equally singular ability to look at people’s brains and understand which part of him is active at that precise moment. Thanks to these skills he becomes the best neuroscientist in Italy but is forced to give up his personal life. The story, written together with Pierangelo Sapegno, is told in I remember everything (Marietti 1820, 296 pages, 19 euros), presented yesterday morning by Gino Giaculli on the second day of «Napoli città libro» at the maritime station, where the curiosity of most was for the series, of which Piccioni is also the screenwriter, now purchased in United States where it will be released this winter, starring a doctor. The fourth Italian season is scheduled for January 2026, but about this one, he said, «I can’t reveal anything, only to say that it will be even more focused on the human and personal relationships between doctors and patients. More passion, more transport, more love, more emotions. Among the topics that will be included in the episodes there cannot be anything other than that of artificial intelligence in the medical field, which is increasingly widespread. We asked ourselves why a patient has to resort to the care of a professional if an app gives him the diagnosis and treatment in a few seconds for free.”
Curiosity, on a second day of the show not particularly full of original events (the “cast” continues to be very autarchic), everyone asks him about Argentero, the doc-sex symbol: “We are friends. Sometimes I make fun of him, when we happen to be walking together on the street and someone calls “Doctor” we turn around together and then I scold him, because I am the real doctor. He told me that it comes naturally to him to feel called into question even when he travels by train and they ask over the loudspeaker if there is a doctor on board. I’ve happened to use it a few times, for good reasons. When I am treating a patient who does not want to follow the right therapy, I promise him that, if he accepts, I will send him a video message from Argentero, and he immediately accepts.” He, however, if he really must be honest, is rooting for Pierpaolo Spollon, in the serious Riccardo: «I see myself when I was young and a dreamer».
