Zerocalcare with young readers

The children’s literature festival is back and Rimini is once again swimming in the waves of a Sea of ​​Books. The event has begun which since 2008 has been dedicated to promoting reading in all its facets, through many events, meetings with authors and appointments of all kinds dedicated to teenagers who are passionate about books. The 2024 edition, scheduled until Sunday 16 June, already promises to be full of events.

Great date of the day with the cartoonist Zerocalcare who at 4.30pm at the theater Galli meets his readers. A journey into the life of the Roman artist who starts from self-production to success. Through his Armadillo consciousness Zerocalcare, born Michele Rech, has never disappointed his readers, hungry for literature that deals with social and political issues in an incisive and urgent way. The festival is organized by teenagers for teenagers through the contribution of more than one hundred volunteers from middle and high schools, divided into work teams to carry out all the tasks related to the management of the event. From the sale of books and tickets for events, setting up the rooms, coordination of games and workshopscreation of audiovisual material up to reception.

There are many themes on which Mare di Libri focuses its attention, from children’s literature to non-fiction, through crime fiction and poetry. There will also be time for the adult world with the outside the hall at Palazzo Buonadrata. The appointments don’t end here, there are a total of fifteen events that will take place throughout the day today, from 10am to 9pm.

We start in the morning with a meeting with the major publishers of children’s books, in the suggestive private courtyard of Sant’Agostino. He focuses on crime and horror books, before diving into publishing to learn the best way to read a newspaper. The long list continues into the afternoon, moving from the printed pages to animated film films. Love and feelings, in the analysis of pre-adolescence on the first floor of Saint Augustine and then the big question: scientific or humanistic subjects.
