Arezzo dei Readers returns for the 5th edition, the only stop in the Arezzo area of ​​The City of Readers, the traveling festival that catalyzes prominent writers, publishers, translators and curators in Tuscany, organized by the CR Firenze Foundation and the Wimbledon APS Association with directed by Gabriele Ametrano. “Reading changes everything”: this is the message that has accompanied the event since its birth. Appointment on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June at the Casa Museo dell’Antiquariato Ivan Bruschi for two days this year dedicated to young readers, with animated readings and workshops in collaboration with Libreria La Casa sull’Albero. Not only that: scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 27 June, a preview of the initiative which will at the same time be a tribute to Giorgio Vasari on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his death – with a literary walk accompanied by the words of Enzo Fileno Carabba and Vasari himself – and a celebration of the precious art collection of Casa Museo Ivan Bruschi – with a guided tour at a special price. Arezzo dei Readers is created with the patronage of the Tuscany Region, the patronage, support and co-organization of the Municipality of Arezzo, the support and collaboration of the Ivan Bruschi Foundation, part of the Intesa Sanpaolo heritage, and in partnership with Libreria La Casa sull’ Tree (info: www.lacittadeilectori.it).

Going into the details of the program, departure tomorrow, Thursday 27 June, with a day that anticipates the weekend’s appointments. At 4.00 pm it will be possible to take part in a special guided tour of the exhibition “The free manner. Abstract and informal art in the Intesa Sanpaolo collections”, an exhibition that includes works by Afro Basaldella, Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana, Carla Accardi, Bruno Munari, Enrico Baj And Carol Rama which will be accessible at a reduced price (entrance €5, booking recommended [email protected]). At 5.00 pm we continue with a walk through the streets of Arezzo with a tourist guide and readings by Alessandra Bedino from “Vasari’s Dreamed Lives” by Enzo Fileno Carabba (Bompiani) and some incipits of the original “The lives of the most excellent Italian architects, painters and sculptors, from Cimabue to our times” by Giorgio Vasari (meeting at 4.45pm in front of the Ivan Bruschi Antiques Museum House).

Continue with the programming for girls and boys, with free entry: Saturday 29 June at 5.00 pm “Io Leggo!”, a project in collaboration with La Casa sull’Albero to cultivate a passion for books and stories in younger readers. We start with a short visit to the House Museum to continue with a reading of “Artist’s house for sale” by Ericavale Moravello (Carmelozampa), for participants aged 6 and over. Sunday 30 June again at 5pm “Io Leggo!”, this time with a reading of the book “Questo non è una carota” by Dylan Hewitt (Immature Ear), a tribute to surrealism for ages 3 and up.

The route of The City of Readers – which started at the beginning of May and has already passed through Piombino (Li), Calenzano (Fi), Prato, San Miniato (Pi), Florence, Poggibonsi (Si) and Grosseto – will continue in July for the fourth year in Montelupo Fiorentino (Fi), from the 4th to the 5th, and for the fifth in Villamagna (Pi), on the 6th. In September, always a fourth edition in Bagno a Ripoli (Fi) from the 13th to the 15th. Again: Impruneta (Fi ), already a stage of the festival for the last two years, joins two other municipalities in the Florentine Chianti – Tavarnelle and San Casciano in Val di Pesa – for a first edition of Chianti dei Readers, in October.
