Faenza (Ravenna), 11 June 2024 – It went out at the age of 89 on Faenza painter Nevio Bedeschifor many years a teacher of artistic disciplines at the ‘Severi’ Scientific High School in Faenza and at the adult universities of Lugo and Imola. Born in the city of Manfreda on February 14th 1935had his first approach to the world of art by attending the Minardi Drawing School under the guidance of Roberto Sella and Francesco Nonni. Subsequently he obtained the Master of the Arts diploma toGaetano Ballardin Institutethe. His artistic activity began in the mid-1950s, experimenting with painting and in the different ones graphic techniques with works of a realist nature and inspired by social issues. Linked to substantially figurative canons, Bedeschi proposed a personal expressive language rich in symbols and of transfigurative elementsi of visible reality, related to other scenarios that arose from history, but also from chronicle of his time.

“With the passing of Nevio Bedeschi – commented the mayor Massimo Isola expressing condolences on behalf of the individual, the municipal administration and the community – Faenza loses one extraordinary protagonist of her artistic and cultural sceneAnd. Nevio was one of those artists who helped build a collective artistic imagination known by most of the city.

His painting, over the years, has entered many homes in Faenza as well as being the protagonist of countless exhibitions. Nevio was a cultured person and his very refined works allowed him to go beyond the borders of Faenza, making an important contribution to Italian painting of the second half of the twentieth century. But Nevio Bedeschi was not just this. For many and also for me Nevio, as he wanted to be called, was a teacher for decades at the Faenza high school where he met and attended thousands of studentswith many of whom he also had relationships subsequently for his own affable and charismatic character. His disappearance leaves him in the city a great void”.
